Christmas Eve and the sun returns. More snow and nothing is more beautiful. This will be a White Christmas for sure. Magical but it would be nice to get around. Roads are almost impassable. No snowplows, sand or ice. As Barack Obama would say, "You're on your own" Of course he was quoting the Republicans. Ok, let's not go there now. It's a beautiful day.

December .

December 22, More snow last night, more shoveling today. What a beautiful sight. 36 degrees today so it's melting fast. Hope to get out to Christmas shop and go to the library this afternoon. No chains though, so we'll see what happens.

A follow up on that chili I was going to make. Found out the hard way that handling chilies with bare hands can burn, baby, burn! Next time (if there is a next time) latex gloves. The chili turned out quite good though.

After digging out, the broom accidently fell over and I ran over it as I pulled away from the curb. The handle is smashed! Darn, it was my favorite but it can't be fixed. Off to do errands. Streets are full of ice and ruts. Like driving a bucking bronko.

Backyard blanketed by soft snow. 5" in Ballard overnight! And here I gave away my skis, poles and cold weather hats last fall. I must have been thinking global warming.

My Hummingbirds were waiting for me to bring out their nectar this morning. Two of them dive bombing each other to get their fill at the feeder. The feeder has been freezing so I've been bringing it in at night to thaw it out.

Snowing again now. Shoveled for over half and hour before throwing my back out and retreating inside. Enforced hibernation I guess. A good chance to learn about this blog business, maybe to meditate and if I get really motivated (which I must), to cook a new recipe I found for chili. I don't know what's come over me for me to consider cooking - but hey! No time like the present.
